This article is devoted to the issue of rational exploitation of space in cities with a large population. It is known that a sharp decrease in the area of land plots within the city limits accessible to public use leads to a decrease in the quality of life of citizens. The authors of this article are considering in detail the possibility of using roofs as additional public spaces. The article discusses such methods for using roofs as solar power generation, rainwater harvesting, apiaries and poultry farms, sports complexes, playgrounds, vegetable farms, etc. Particular attention is paid to the so-called ""green roofs"", their design, classification, application. The authors of this article talk about the numerous advantages of green roofs, such as the ability to manage wastewater, reduce the influence of “urban heat islands”, create new public spaces, create new jobs, increase energy efficiency, reduce noise, increase market value, etc. However, the authors of this article did not forget to show the disadvantages of green roofs. The main disadvantages of this project are the higher initial cost, the increased load on the foundation and walls, and the increased costs of operation. Nevertheless, the authors draw conclusions that the advantages of green roofs far exceed their disadvantages and the further development of this direction is very important and promising. 3. Installation of active seismic resistance monitoring systems (active method). Such an active feedback control system contains three main elements: a. Sensors for measuring external excitation; b. Computer hardware and software; c. Drives to provide the necessary control forces. At present, the most popular is the hybrid method of semi-active control, which combines the advantages of a seismoisolating basement with passive shock absorbers, which is much more economical in comparison with the active method.

This article presents experimental data on the effect of inter-window heating of the air gap on the heat-shielding properties of a wooden window. In recent years, Russia has significantly tightened the requirements for the heat-shielding qualities of translucent structures of buildings and structures. However, heat losses through the windows continue to account for a significant portion of the total heat losses through the window structures of buildings. Therefore, in order to reduce heat loss through translucent structures and solutions to the problem of energy saving in buildings, it is necessary to look for ways to increase the resistance to heat transfer of windows. One of the solutions for improving the thermal insulation of window structures and increasing comfort in the premises of residential and public buildings in the winter period is the use of inter-glazing space heating.

If defects are found in the foundation of an already constructed building or if the load on it increases, it is necessary to examine it and, if necessary, reconstruct it. The foundation of the building is a supporting building structure and the safety of the entire structure as a whole directly depends on it, therefore it is so important to make repairs on time. This article provides one of the methods used in construction to strengthen the strip foundation by adding broadening plates.

Comparison of material and labor costs for two methods of strengthening short of flexible compressed pillars loaded at high eccentricities was made. Pillars reinforced on a stretched face with two strips of carbon laminates with a cross section of 50x1.2 mm, in combination with three-layer transverse clamps of carbon bars, located with a pitch of 190 mm, demonstrate, when tested, the maximum strength. The breaking load was 503.5 kN, which is 2.076 times more than the reference sample. Classical reinforcement, designed for maximum load, dramatically increased the cross-section of the pillars and the amount of additional load, because the thickness of the bead with unilateral extension was 90 mm. Comparison of only the cost of material and labor costs does not give a final answer to the question about the effectiveness of one or another method of reinforcement. It is necessary to take into account the time of work, the preservation of usable space, the possibility of strengthening without stopping production

The symbolic meaning of the petroglyph in the form of human hand, distributed on the territory of the Chechen Republic is explored in detail in the presented article. For the first time it is made an attempt to associate the interpretation of the values of the petroglyph with its location on the ancestral tower. Among the main meanings are the following: the possession, the creative activity, as well as the strength and the protection. The specific residential and military towers with a description of the petroglyph and its location are considering. Besides the common images of the hand the unique petroglyphs are explored (such as: the hand in the circle, the hand with the arrow and also the image with the hypertrophic sizes of the hands). The traditions and the rites, the way of the life and the religious beliefs which are prevalent in the territory of the Chechen Republic, are used as a basis for the interpretation of the meaning of the petroglyph. Based on the comparison with the usage examples of a similar symbol in the world cultures and religions it is concluded that the picture of the human hand carries in itself, mainly, protective and benevolent function. The article was published in the framework of the program of the International Forum ""Victorious may 1945"".

Technical progress makes humanity create new technologies and methods in all spheres of life. Evaluation of property also in there. In current moment there are several methods, which are badly obsolete. For example, there are some cases, when building in decrepit or emergency condition were able to buy in cost several times higher than objective cost. These cases aren't unique. New method of evaluation of property could possibly help if not to stop in all appearing of this cases but less their amount. New method is based on Building Information Model (BIM). This model allow take all needed information about building in the currnet moment of time and see in dynamic, how change different indicators of building. This system can be more useful if it associates some amount of building, which differs indicators of interest building and reflecting effects of that building on themselves. This technology can be looked as Extented BIM. Consideration of implementing BIM in evaluation of property has very perspective vay - this can accelerate the time building can be evaluated, and also it let potential client to see all information about building which he need. This makes process of purchase-sale of property more clear, which, by turn, help avoid conflicts when property being researched before purchasing.

Evaluation of the effectiveness of ""green"" buildings is usually carried out by a third party using a rating system. The rating system STO NOSTROY 2.35.4–2011 assesses habitat sustainability according to 46 criteria, which are grouped into 10 categories, presented in Table 1. STO NOSTROY 2.35.4–2011. The article presents the methodology developed on the basis of the above-mentioned rating system, as well as the foreign LEED system, and the S-factor for the designed 16-storey residential building is calculated. The calculation for clarity is presented in the form of a diagram. Since the design we strive to get as close as possible to the highest grade of assessment, the most attention is paid to such concepts as energy saving and energy efficiency. Calculation of economic efficiency is possible on the basis of the resource-technological model by calculating the volume of waste during the overhaul and demolition of the designed building. This is a necessary task, since the construction of environmentally-friendly, sustainable buildings requires full consideration of the life cycle of the building, and accounting for the entire life cycle necessitates integrated design. The time spent at an early stage on the complex design of the building, taking into account the concept of sustainable development, is rather quickly compensated with the start of building operation, since it is known that the largest share of costs falls on the operational period of the building. So, as a result of calculating the S-factor, the building is assigned a certain grade of assessment. Raising the grade of an assessment of a building being erected will lead to an increase in its investment attractiveness. That is why it is important to perform a similar calculation at the design stage of the life cycle of the construction object, since in this case we have the opportunity to increase the value of the S-factor to the required.
